You were probably referred to me from a trusted friend or colleague, most of my business is from referrals.

The Compass Points clients are small business owners, Solopreneurs and Sales Professionals that want to WIN in a challenging marketplace. The field of coaching, and personal and business consulting, may be new to many in small business and other professionals. You most likely are already capable of producing great results but that is not the point. I find that my clients appreciate that success may require a different perspective, and someone outside the business to show the way.

Now that you are here I want to answer your questions about what I do as a Business Coach and Consultant and how that would benefit you. If you are like many others referred to me, you have probably never worked with a "Business Coach".

I did not start my career as a Business Coach, It was only when I hired one did I see the benefits.

Before I started helping others I first had to cut my own path in the business world, and my path was not paved for me. Rather my path was carved in a jungle of thickets, branches, and some with thorns. Every branch taught me lessons in the business world even the thorns.  I earned my way in small business by stumbling to find solutions and then excelling at replicating what worked. I have been instrumental in 3 successful start up companies and learned all these lessons exclusively in small company experiences that provided a broad real-world business education. My clients get the benefits of my life lessons learned in business and Sales. I use the best and threw out the rest.

My coaching career came from my passion to learn about Selling. You see as a young Sales Engineer I was not that great at selling. I learned everything I could from the experts in books, in tapes I listened to, seminars I attended and from a Sales Trainer Mentor and Expert in the field of training. That was only part of the success, because the truth is all of that education did not help me. I only got the help when I was able to connect the dots between that training after I attended a weekend workshop run by Landmark Education Corporation. In that weekend I learned what stopped me from being successful in sales, and it was an incredible experience to know that I NOW for the first time felt happy and in control of my financial future. It was at that weekend that I experienced individual coaching and saw a future of helping others succeed in the challenging business world. I love what I do, and I would love to share that with you.

McAskill and his wife Brenda live in Eliot, Maine.  When he’s not working with clients you may find him sailboat racing, or moving down mountains in the east and west on ski’s or snowboard. McAskill is also a longtime volunteer in the Portsmouth NH community and serves on the board of the PSA (www.sailpsa.org), the local Chamber of Commerce (www.portsmouthchamber.org) and started a Business Radio Show airing weekly on Portsmouth Community Radio (www.wscafm.org).
